Vineyard Cobweb Broom Workshop

Discover the beauty of craftsmanship rooted in Niagara’s wine history. In this hands-on workshop, broom squire Amy Lou Taylor will guide participants in creating a traditional cobweb broom using materials sourced from old vine plantings.

In viticulture, “old vines” refer to mature grapevines—often several decades old—that are prized for their depth, resilience and character. As part of our ongoing exploration of Niagara’s rich wine heritage, this workshop gives new life to vineyard cuttings, transforming them into functional art.

So, how do you ‘clean’ up a cobweb? With a cobwebbing broom of course! These beautiful, versatile brooms become an extension of our arms. They reach the areas that we cannot without the need to be stepping on stools. In this hands-on crafting workshop, you will learn the art of making a cobweb broom. We will start with learning the history of broom making, and about the beautiful grape vines and broomcorn we will be using.
Participants will learn traditional broom-making techniques and leave with a one-of-a-kind broom shaped by the legacy of the vine.

No experience necessary.
All supplies are included for you to craft your broom including a piece of historic grapevine from Vineland Estates for your handle.
